I started hiking when my wife and I moved to Boston in 1988. In 1995 we moved to Denver. Then in 1998, realizing we needed some more technical training we joined the Colorado Mountain Club. We took the Wilderness Treking School, Basic Mountaineering School, High Altitude Mountaineering School, Cross Country Ski School, Avalanche Awareness class, and the Intermediate Rock Climbing School. I later taught the Intermediate Rock Climbing. Meredith taught in the Basic Mountaineering School and is currently the director. She has taken the mountaineering more to heart and has climbed in Alaska, Peru, Canada, and Bolivia. I climb occasionally and prefer to spend time with my musical and other spiritual practices such as chanting, meditation and service.

Again, I'm not as avid as Meredith, but I do enjoy an occasional easy to moderate climb.
